ANAB training is a key learning step for any certification body (CB) or other party pursuing accreditation. But training can be the pathway to knowledge for individuals throughout all steps of the accreditation process, even those not actively seeking accreditation. ANAB training covers a range of subject areas relevant to accreditation for laboratories (including ISO/IEC 17025:2017 lead assessor training), forensic service providers, personnel certification, management systems, and credentialing.

This ultimately beckons the question:

Who Needs Training?

With training touching so many accreditation and conformity assessment areas, ANAB training is beneficial for organizations across the expanse of industries. Specifically, organizations pursuing accreditation, organizations that have completed or are renewing their certification, assessors, and even certain users of standards can strengthen their knowledge with training courses offered by ANAB.

For all the training ANAB has to offer, please refer to the Public Training Course Schedule.

Training for Standards Users

Almost every ANAB training course features a primary learning objective that incorporates gaining an understanding of the requirements of a specific standard.

For those who might not currently be seeking accreditation, there are a few ideal training courses. Notably, Introduction to ISO/IEC 17025 helps attendees understand and apply the requirements of the international standard for calibration and testing laboratories, ISO/IEC 17025:2017.

In the forensics arena, Risk-Based Thinking for Forensic Service Providers helps foster understanding of risk-based thinking with attendees in relation to ISO/IEC 17025. You can register for upcoming sessions of this course here: Risk-Based Thinking for Forensic Service Providers.

Training for Assessors

Essential to the accreditation process are assessors, who travel to the applicant’s workplace to determine conformance with accreditation standard and other applicable accreditation requirements. Paired with a robust body of technical knowledge, training enables assessors to do their job more effectively and efficiently.

For laboratory assessments, lead assessors need to have a solid comprehension of concepts like uncertainty, traceability, and proficiency testing and inter-laboratory comparisons (PT/ILC). These concepts are ingrained in ANAB ISO/IEC 17025:2017 Lead Assessor Training for better assessment practices. You can register for upcoming sessions here: ISO/IEC 17025:2017 Lead Assessor Training (Non-forensic).

Similarly, the ANAB course Forensic Technical Assessor Training was designed for those interested in serving as an ANAB assessor for the ISO/IEC 17025 or ISO/IEC 17020 forensic accreditation programs. This program teaches the mechanics of the assessment process, including assessment methods, risks, and skills. Those interested in becoming ANAB forensic technical assessors can register for upcoming sessions here: Forensic Technical Assessor Training for ISO/IEC 17025 or ISO/IEC 17020.

Auditing skills are useful to those who conduct and participate in internal audits. Internal Auditing to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 gives internal auditors an understanding of technical issues pertaining to coordinating a quality management system audit against ISO/IEC 17025:2017 (Registration: Internal Auditing to ISO/IEC 17025:2017). Similarly, Internal Auditing to ISO/IEC 17020 enhances the knowledge of managers, technical staff, consultants, and auditors who want or need to learn better audit practices (Registration: Internal Auditing to ISO/IEC 17020).

Training for Certification Bodies and Others Seeking Accreditation

All ANAB training courses address learning goals that prepare certification bodies and other organizations for accreditation.

For instance, Personnel Certification: Understanding the Requirements of ISO/IEC 17024, a two-day workshop, fortifies the knowledge of personnel from organizations that operate or are considering developing personnel certification programs. This workshop, which outlines the requirements of ISO/IEC 17024 and ANAB’s expectations for organizations to demonstrate compliance, is an essential step in the application process for ISO/IEC 17024 Accreditation. You can register for upcoming sessions here: Personnel Certification Accreditation Workshop.

Training for Accredited Organizations

Training is an area of interest even for organizations that are already accredited, as they need to maintain the level of excellence communicated by the ANAB accreditation symbol. Returning to this information through training courses and workshops can be a good opportunity to add to and enrich existing knowledge.

Accredited organizations interested in further training can consult the Public Training Course Schedule for upcoming training sessions.
