Updates in the 2024 Version
The new revision introduces several key enhancements. For improved clarity and relevance, the revision includes some additional terminology as well as clarifying changes—such as simplified language, removal of duplicates, and added explanatory notes—and substantive changes—such as new additions and modified language. ANSI/ASTM E2659-2024 Transition Timeline
To help organizations adapt, a transition period has been established:
- June 15, 2025: New application materials available and all new applications must comply with the 2024 version of the standard.
- September 1, 2025: Starting from this day, accredited clients may submit their scheduled annual surveillance applications under the 2024 version of the standard
- January 1, 2026: Starting from this day, all accredited clients must submit their annual surveillance or scope extension applications under the 2024 version of the standard.
What Certificate Issuers Should Do Now
If your certificate issuing organization is currently accredited under ANSI/ASTM E2659 or planning to apply, here are some next steps:
- Download and review the new standard in full
- Attend ANAB workshops or webinars for detailed guidance and best practices
- Conduct a gap analysis to identify areas needing updates
- Update policies, procedures, and training materials to align with the new requirements
- Plan your transition timeline to ensure compliance
