What Is ANSI H35.2-2024?
ANSI H35.2-2024 is an incredibly technical document, being comprised primarily of tables that specify dimensional tolerances of aluminum products, such as thickness, width, length, and diameter.
These specifications are expansive and cover aluminum in its many forms. For example, Section 7 features a range of tables for aluminum sheets and plates, and Section 9 is devoted to aluminum foil.
Changes to ANSI H35.2-2024
ANSI H35.2-2024, as the latest revision of the American National Standard for dimensional tolerances for aluminum mill products, has undergone several alterations. In addition to new footnotes, some these changes include:
- Specified thickness over 8.001 through 12.000 inches was added to Table 7.7a, “Sheet and Plate Thickness Tolerances (Applicable to All Alloys Not Included in the Aerospace Alloys Table 7.7b or Not Specified for Aerospace Applications),” and specified thickness over 8.001 through 10.000 to Table 7.7b, “Sheet and Plate Thickness Tolerances (Applicable to All Alloys Specified for Aerospace Applications)”
- Specified thickness 0.250–8.000 inches was updated to 0.250–12.000 inches in Table 7.10, “Width and Length Tolerances—Sawed Flat Sheet and Plate,” and TABLE 7.13, “Lateral Bow Tolerances—Flat Sheet and Plate”
- The title of Table 7.17 was expanded to “Flatness Tolerances—Flat Sheet 3 and Coiled Cut-to-Length Flat Sheet”
- Specified thicknesses were updated in Table 7.18, “Flatness Tolerances—Sawed or Sheared Plate”
- New open-space dimensions figure was added to “Examples Illustrating Use of Table 11.2”
- Several new schedule numbers were added for nominal pipe sizes 10 and 12 in Table 12.55, “Diameters, Wall Thicknesses, Weights—Pipe”
- The titles of Tables 12.10, 12.13,12.29, and 12.31 were expanded to include tube and pipe
