A free app, DALT, Duct Air Leakage Test helps estimate air leakage from ductwork. Released by the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors’ National Association, SMACNA the DALT mobile app for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, also provides a quick way to determine the pass/fail mark for properly specified duct air leakage tests – DALT. The SMACNA DALT app generates a report that can be emailed directly from the app.
Users can combine multiple sections of ductwork that vary by size and shape to calculate total allowable leakage. The application uses the methodology found in SMACNA’s “HVAC Air Duct Leakage Test Manual” and provides applicable leakage classes from the publication’s latest edition. The method complies with ASHRAE 90.1, IECC, IGCC Version 2, IMC, and the UMC.
