There are many types of certification in the marketplace. One of the key differences among the various certifications is whether they are accredited or unaccredited. Why should you seek accredited certification? Why does it matter?
The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Committee on Conformity Assessment (CASCO) has provided some answers.
ISO/CASCO is composed of experts representing ISO member bodies and its purpose is to develop policy and publish standards related to conformity assessment. With support from ISO and the International Accreditation Forum (IAF), CASCO has published a document that can provide answers to these questions and what to expect with accredited certification. Check it out at Expected Outcomes of Accredited Management System Certification.
There are also several brochures published by IAF that help in understanding the value and benefit of accredited certification and using an accredited certification body for your certification needs. You can check them out at IAF Brochures.
